Interactive Performance, FullDome Installation, EEG Body-Signal Art

Corpografías del Coraje is a research-creation work exploring the links between migration, memory, the body, and territory, presented at the Festival de Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana, Cuba. Working alongside director Liz Rincón, I joined as interactive systems developer and electronic engineer, responsible for designing the piece’s EEG signal-acquisition device and the pipeline that turns live biometric data into the FullDome’s visual and sonic material.

  • EEG Signal Acquisition: Designed and built the custom electronic device used to capture live EEG/body-signal data from performers during the show.
  • Signal-to-Art Mapping: Engineered the real-time system that translates raw brainwave data into the generative visuals and sound projected across the dome.
  • Interactive Systems Integration: Integrated the sensor hardware with the FullDome projection and sound design so the emotional cartography stayed synchronized to the live performance.

In Liz’s words:

Corpografías del Coraje integrates art, science, and interactive technologies. The project is developed in a co-laboratory with migrant communities from Necoclí, Cali, and Cúcuta, generating immersive devices, sensitive cartographies, and performative experiences that make emotions and struggles visible. Using body-signal sensors, it builds a visual and sonic cartography of the emotions of the Venezuelan diaspora, in FullDome format and video installation. What we sought to capture through the signals was not just brain activity as biometric data, but its translation into a sensitive language capable of revealing the intimate vibration of migrant memory.

Each wave becomes a stroke, a rhythm, a flash of light projected onto the dome, opening a space where invisible emotions acquire visual and sonic texture. In this way, the signal becomes aesthetic: a bridge between the intangible and the collective, a poetic record of how bodies resonate with the evocation of lost territories and new possibilities for inhabiting the world. What the spectator witnesses is not a technical graph, but a living emotional cartography, in which data is transformed into shared artistic experience.
